This creamy moon milk is made with antioxidant-rich rooibos tea and warming spices for a cozy drink on the coldest days.

Moon milk is an Ayurvedic drink that can have many different ingredients, each with their own health benefits. Moon milk is meant to soothe the mind and body. This creamy drink combines vibrant rooibos tea, star anise and cinnamon for a relaxing drink that calms from the inside out.

Rooibos is a red tea that has an earthy flavor with notes of vanilla and caramel. This variety of tea is unique because it is low in tannins, contains more antioxidants than green tea and is caffeine-free, so it’s perfect for enjoying anytime you want to wind down and relax. This powerful tea contains polyphenols that help balance gut microflora and support healthy immune function.

Star anise has a licorice flavor and aroma. This star shaped spice is known for its antibacterial properties, helping to support respiratory health and a healthy immune system. Star anise may also help support healthy sleep by stimulating neurotransmitters that regulate sleep. You can use star anise in sweet or savory recipes like pho, curry, homemade broth or hot chocolate.

Cinnamon is widely used for flavoring baked goods, sprinkling on creamy beverages and even for roasting vegetables. Cinnamon helps support digestion and can help regulate healthy blood sugar.

You can use any of your favorite plant-based milks for this recipe. Cashew, coconut or flaxseed milk are all great alternatives to almond milk. Just look for the unsweetened variety so you can control the equality and amount of sweetener. Honey is great for sweetening moon milk and is the most popular choice. Honey can be very soothing especially when you have a cold or sore throat. Look for raw unfiltered honey to ensure all of the enzymes are intact.
