This antioxidant-rich sangria is infused with real hibiscus tea crystals for a tart and fruity sangria that begs to be enjoyed on a relaxing weekend.
If you’re looking for a health-minded drink to sip on after a long week, this fruity sangria is sure to perk you up. Sangria is popular at Spanish restaurants, often enjoyed alongside great food and company. It’s easy to see why too; sangria is made with red wine, a splash of brandy, fresh juice, and pieces of fruit. It’s a festive drink that everyone seems to enjoy.
When making sangria at home, you have complete control over the type of wine you use. A dry Spanish wine (Garnacha or Grenache) works well or a simple Pinot noir. A jammy fruit-forward red wine will complement the fruity notes. You can even use white wine if you’re not a red wine fan. Look for a wine that is sulfite-free and grown organically without the use of pesticides.
Hibiscus tea crystals dissolve into hot water and chill before being added to the sangria. Hibiscus tea has a fruity, tart flavor reminiscent of raspberries. It’s naturally high in immune-supporting vitamin-C.
Depending on the level of sweetness you prefer, organic cane sugar or erythritol can be added to sweeten the sangria. Some sangria recipes use orange liqueur, but since we want to stick with natural sugar, fresh orange juice will do the trick. Orange juice adds a burst of citrus flavor and aroma to sangria.
Once the sangria is mixed, pour over ice and enjoy!
No Alcohol? No Problem! This fruity beverage can also be made non-alcoholic by using cranberry or pomegranate juice in place of wine and brandy.
