Guava Black Tea Lemonade

A Tropical Lemonade

Guava is a tropical fruit rich in immune-system supporting vitamin-C. It’s naturally sweet and a good source of fiber when eaten raw. No need to worry if you can’t find fresh guava—its purée can be found year round in the international foods section of many grocery stores. Look for a variety without added sweeteners like corn syrup or sugar.

Lemon juice pairs with the guava nectar to turn this beverage into a half tea-half juicy lemonade delight. Fresh lemon juice is also a great source of vitamin-C, which may be useful at helping to protect cells from free radicals and supporting collagen production.

No Steeping Required

Black tea is the most common tea used to make home brewed iced tea. English Breakfast tea crystals create a robust tea that is bold and pairs perfectly with the tangy guava lemonade. Unlike the sun tea that many of us grew up enjoying, these tea crystals dissolve quickly in hot water for a refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed in under an hour. Once the tea has chilled, it is poured over ice and topped with the guava-lemonade. For a less sweet beverage, honey can be omitted.

    • Black tea is rich in theaflavins that support healthy gut health and digestion.
    • Caffeine and l-theanine provide a calm, focused energy without the jitters.  Be sure to enjoy this beverage in the morning or afternoon.
    • This recipe can be doubled or tripled and mixed ahead of time to serve at barbecues and picnics all summer long.
