This tea-infused whiskey drink has a fancy feel without a lot of fuss. It’s the perfect festive holiday cocktail that will be enjoyed by even the most particular drinkers!
If you’re looking for a drink that will appeal to everyone at the party, then this fruity whiskey drink is a must make. Fresh squeezed orange juice and cranberry juice add fruity flavor while fermented black tea and whiskey add bold contrast that is balanced with the sweetness of raw honey.
Fermented Pu’er Black tea contains probiotics that thrive even in crystal form. This tea is not only great for sipping on its own, but ideal to add into cocktails for a hint of bitterness much like traditional bitters. The live probiotics help support digestion and gut health. The tea crystals are dissolved in hot water along with honey, then cooled to room temperature. This creates a tea-infused syrup for adding sweetness to the cocktail.
The mixture is added to a martini shaker over ice along with cranberry juice, orange juice, and whiskey. Whiskey adds bold flavor to the drink with rich caramel and woodsy notes. Non-whiskey drinkers may be surprised by how drinkable this cocktail is because of its fruity ingredients.
After a quick stir to marry the ingredients, the cocktail is poured over a large ice cube in a cocktail class. Finish with a dried orange slice, fresh cranberries or a sprig of fresh rosemary to give the cocktail a craft made finish that looks like it was made by a mixologist at a swanky bar.
To make oven dried orange slice garnishes at home: Heat oven to 200ºF and place a cookie cooling rack on top of a baking sheet. Place thin orange slices on the cooling rack and transfer to the oven for 2 hours. Cool completely before adding to cocktails. The cooling rack allows air to flow so both sides of oranges dry at the same time.
