This hydrating electrolyte cooler is naturally sweetened (unlike sports drinks) and contains no artificial colors or flavors. Tropical notes of coconut and passionfruit make this the ultimate way to replenish electrolytes in a tasty way!
Post-workout or after strenuous activity rehydrating is essential. When we sweat during vigorous activity, electrolytes are depleted which can lead to feeling not only thirsty but weak, tired and exhausted. While water can help combat dehydration, when we sweat, the minerals potassium, magnesium, sodium, chloride and calcium are depleted. Drinking or eating foods with these electrolytes helps to restore their balance. Electrolytes play important roles in carrying electrical signals to nerves and muscles. They also help maintain proper blood pH.
More symptoms of dehydration include:
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- Muscle spasms
- Nausea
- Headache
- Lightheadedness
- Dark colored urine
Instead of reaching for sugary sports drinks, coconut water naturally contains electrolytes and is a healthier way to restore them in a pinch. Lemon juice also contains the potassium the body needs, while sodium is restored from pink Himalayan sea salt. Passion fruit nectar adds a dose of natural sugar which is also crucial for carrying electrolytes to muscles quickly.
Passionfruit green tea is full of antioxidants that help fight free radical damage and support a healthy immune system. Catechins in green tea promote a healthy gut microbiome.
This electrolyte cooler can be made ahead of time on a day where the weather will be hot or you will be engaging in strenuous exercise like hiking, so you can rehydrate in a pinch.
