This apple cinnamon drink is full of real apple flavor from sautéing apples before blending with cinnamon tea for the ultimate drink that can be served hot or cold.
If you’re looking for a creamy alternative to your typical me-time beverage, this apple cinnamon drink is sure to satisfy. It’s made with cinnamon tea and fiber-rich apples, creating an apple pie flavor without heaps of sugar.
Before blending, apples are sauteed in a small amount of butter until golden brown and soft. Sautéing the apples first helps them soften for a smoother texture and also brings out their natural sweetness, taking the apple flavor from tart to a deeper flavor that is caramelized. Honeycrisp apples work great for their balanced flavor, but pink lady, gala and granny smith apples can also be used.
Cinnamon fasting tea has a spiced cinnamon aroma with hints of bergamot and spearmint. Cinnamon helps to balance blood sugar and keep cravings in check.
Once the apples are softened they are added to a blender with steamed almond milk, coconut sugar and tea crystals. Coconut sugar adds molasses-like sweetness to the drink without spiking insulin levels as much as table sugar does. You can also use erythritol, honey or monk fruit sweetener.
This drink can also be enjoyed cold by chilling the apple mixture before blending with cold almond milk, coconut sugar and tea crystals.
